Emeralds is an experienced accountancy company and we can easily see the value in affordable, reliable accounting software for all businesses of any size.It is important to acknowledge however, that there is a significant difference in the range of software available to small and medium businesses when compared to larger ones. Many packages are only exclusively available to larger organisations.
In the past, it was the larger organisations that predominantly used bookkeeping software because it simplified the expense-monitoring process, kept track of expenses and facilitated tax management. It was also quite expensive, so only the larger organisations could afford it. This rendered such software unaffordable to small and medium-sized businesses.
Fortunately, this has changed in recent years as a variety of software has since been created specifically for small businesses, sole traders and contractors. Here at Emeralds BS Ltd, we have become dedicated to ensuring that our clients have access to affordable accountancy software to fulfil all their finance, accounting and tax requirements for a reasonable price. We believe that it is vital to keep abreast of the most recent developments in software and technology – which is exactly why we ensure that our team is constantly familiar with the latest accountancy kit.
We do understand, however, that every client is unique, and we therefore judge each case based on its own merit. What may suit a sole trader might not be ideal for a small limited company and vice versa. Xero Software
To alleviate the pain of time-consuming, expensive and even tedious aspects of accountancy, many companies are turning to specialised software packages such as Xero.Xero has become increasingly popular in recent years and has since gained well-over 1 million subscribers and counting! Xero software is quite advanced as it enables businesses to forward invoices directly to clients and can generate a concise summary of company finances. The software can also synchronise with business bank accounts which additionally ensures that all transactions are accounted for and allows clients to settle any outstanding invoices using the Xero mobile app. Subscribers can access the Xero software from anywhere using many devices. This software is quite versatile and caters best to both small and medium-sized businesses for only a small subscription fee per year.It is relatively user-friendly and boasts integrated software which saves time and offers a seamless experience to accountancy practises and their clients. This allows them to grow their business and use their limited time to concentrate on other aspects of their organisation. Capium has a variety of modules within the program that enables a business to run monthly bookkeeping and payroll together with final accounts and self-assessment for directors. The main advantage over other software is that it holds all bookkeeping/accountancy modules in one place for easy access, and all information is transferrable between all modules.

MainRd Software
For the past few months, Emeralds has been working together with MainRD, an up-and-coming software specifically designed to maximise the use of AI in accountancy.The software offers a more automated approach to transaction reconciliation and new features that enable the software to ‘learn’ and build on the information that it has been fed in the past. It is a very useful tool for bookkeepers and small businesses alike. If your goal is to ensure that you and your clients are well-prepared for all upcoming regulatory changes in ‘Making Tax Digital’, Data Protection and Anti-Money Laundering, then this software could be a great place to start. This software also gives confidence to clients that all their company and client information is safely and securely stored and can withstand the risks of human error, viruses, malicious attacks and disasters.
